Happy Baisakhi Quotes, Wishes, Messages To Bring Goodwill in Life (Vaisakhi)
Baisakhi also is known as Vaisakhi is the festival of hope is just around the corner and we are all set to start afresh.
Yes, every year on the 13th of April Vaisakhi is celebrated which is a historical and religious festival in Sikhism. This day commemorates the formation of Khalsa Panth of warriors under Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. It marks the beginning of the Khalsa.
As per the Hindu culture, this festival celebrates the Solar new year, based on the Vikram Samvat calendar. It marks the first day of the month of Vaisakha. Apart from this, another history of this day is that it is considered as a spring harvest festival for Hinduism as well as for Sikhs.
Usually, on this day, you can observe grand events being performed across the nearby regions of Punjab. The main significance of this festival is that it marks the birth of the Sikh order which started after the persecution and execution of Guru Tegh Bahadur for refusing to convert to Islam under the orders of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The coronation of the tenth Guru of Sikhism and the historic formation of Khalsa, both took place on this day.
The other significance associated with this day is that Ranjit Singh was proclaimed as Maharaja of the Sikh Empire on 12 April 1801 (to coincide with Vaisakhi), which created a unified political state. Sahib Singh Bedi, a descendant of Guru Nanak, conducted the coronation.
Another reason for the importance of this day is when colonial British empire officials committed the Jallianwala Bagh massacre on a gathering, an event influential to the Indian movement against colonial rule.
In present times the festival of Vaisakhi is celebrated on a large scale with lots and lots of creativity and motivation. The holy place, Gurudwara, is decorated in the most eye-captivating view and Kirtans are organized in the nearby areas. Sikhs visit and take a dip in holy water and organize community fairs. It is seen that people gather to socialize with each other and share festive foods.
