A good morning routine will help you start your day off on a more positive note. When the day is started on a positive note, without undue stress and chaos, the rest of the day tends to flow more smoothly. Consider finding some positive quotes, or using the ones below, to memorize or stick them to the fridge, bathroom mirror or anywhere else you are likely to see them during the morning.
“A positive attitude results in positive thoughts. Positive thoughts change events and outcomes.”
“Neither success nor failure is permanent, but the courage to continue trying is.”
“What you gain by achieving your goals is not as important as who you become while doing so.”
“Learn from yesterday, live for the moment and dream of tomorrow.”
“Choosing hope makes everything else possible.”
“We cannot predict the future, but we each have the capacity to help create it.”
The study of quantum physics is uncovering that one’s perceptions and beliefs about reality actually alter reality to fit that perspective. Scientist performed experiments attempting to discover if the basic building blocks of your universe are waves or particles. Each scientist obtained different results every time the experiment was performed. Once they did an in-depth data analysis, the startling truth was that the fundamental building blocks in highly controlled experiments became whatever the scientist believed they would be.
So, maybe quantum physics is a little too much for trying to start your day with more positivist. However, it is fascinating to think that our thoughts and beliefs actually contain enough power to change not just our perception of reality, but reality itself.
Consider adding more positive steps to your morning routine:
#1. Enjoy some form of exercise:- From hard-core cardio to get your blood pumping, or a simple five minutes devoted to yoga or gentle stretches, exercise helps prepare your body and mind for the day ahead.
#2. Review your goals for the day:- Do not think of this as your “have to” list, but all that you hope to accomplish. Re frame it into something you think about positively.
#3. Make some time for quiet reflection:- Whether it is your morning shower or a quiet first cup of coffee, try to carve out some alone time in the morning to reflect and go wherever your mind wants to take you.
#4. Give Gratitude:- Our human nature wants to focus on those things that we do not yet have. Taking a moment each morning to be grateful for all that we do have. A gratitude journal is a great way to do this. There is just something about the exercise of putting what we are grateful for into writing that tends to shift our focus. By creating the journal, in a short amount of time, you will actually have a significant quantity of things that you are grateful for. This is also a terrific place to write down any positive quotes that inspire you.
#5. If your mornings are too rushed to do any of these things, consider getting up an hour earlier. It may sound like a difficult thing to do, but you will reap the rewards throughout your day. Sacrifice that hour at the end of the day when you are tired and worn out from the day. Regain it the next morning to help start your day off in a more positive way.
Whatever approach you take to implementing more positivist into the start of your day, give it some time to fully appreciate the rewards. It is said that it takes 21 days to form a habit. Commit to 21 days of changing your morning routine and then evaluate if the results are a more positive start to your day that is carrying benefits throughout the day.
