National Parent's Day

No matter how long an essay we write, we really cannot write enough about the contributions of our parents in our lives. Our parents play the most significant role in our social, financial, and physical development. Thus, there is nothing wrong if we say that our parents are the most precious gift from God.

As our parents help us in every step of our lives, they deserve a day dedicated to them. That’s why on the 4th Sunday of July every year, we celebrate National Parent’s Day to honor all parents. This year the National Parent’s Day is on July 25th

Throughout our lives, our parents help us to become independent individuals. And many of us know that the efforts our parents put in are really challenging at times. As the world is changing every day, sometimes our parents undergo sleepless nights to help us grow into good human beings.

The History of National Parent’s Day

In 1994 President Bill Clinton established national parent’s day, on the 4th Sunday of every July. On July 24, 1995, the first National Parent’s Day was celebrated the very next year. It is the same time when he signed the congressional resolution into law. The day holds similar importance to Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. In the congressional resolution, Clinton mentioned that the primary reason behind celebrating parent’s day is “recognizing, uplifting and supporting the role of parents in the rearing of children.”

How To Celebrate National Parent’s Day

The meaning of celebration differs from one person to another. Though different people prefer different ways of celebrating on the 4th Sunday in July, the primary purpose of celebrating parent’s day is to spend some time with family and parents.

Here are a few ideas for celebrating parent’s day, and thank them for being your support system forever:

  • Take Them Out for A Treat: Our parents don’t expect the moon and stars from us. They just want to spend some quality time with their children. National Parent’s Day is the time to take your parent for a treat and to have a hearty conversation with them.
  • Have A Picnic: You can pack some of your favorite foods and enjoy them together right in your own backyard. You can make your picnic as simple or as fancy as you and your parents like.
