Yogi Adityanath Quotes That Will Inspire You To Act Logically
Yogi Adityanath is a Hindu monk and politician from India who has served as the 23rd and current Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh since March 19, 2017.
After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the 2017 State Assembly elections, in which he was a prominent campaigner, he was named Chief Minister on March 26, 2017. He was elected Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for the second time in the 2022 State Assembly elections. Since 1998, he has served as a Member of Parliament for the Gorakhpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh for five consecutive terms.
Yogi Adityanath was born on June 5, 1972, in the village of Panchur, Pauri Garhwal, Uttar Pradesh, as Ajay Singh Bisht, now in Uttarakhand. Anand Singh Bisht, his late father, was a forest ranger.
In a family of four brothers and three sisters, he was the second child. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Uttarakhand’s Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University.
Around the 1990s, he left his home to join the Ram temple movement in Ayodhya. He became a disciple of Mahant Avaidyanath, the Gorakhnath Math’s chief, around the same time. Adityanath visited his ancestral village often after his initiation in Gorakhpur, where he established a school in 1998.
After the death of Aavaidyanath on September 12, 2014, Adityanath was promoted to the rank of Mahant or high priest of the Gorakhnath Math. A few days later, he was named Peethadhishwar (Head Seer) of the Math during Nath sect rituals.
Political Career
Yogi Adityanath, according to scholar Christophe Jaffrelot, is part of a specific Hindutva political tradition in Uttar Pradesh that can be traced back to Mahant Digvijay Nath, who led the Hindus’ capture of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya on December 22, 1949. Both Digvijay Nath and his successor Avaidyanath were members of the Hindu Mahasabha and were elected to Parliament on its platform.
The two strands of Hindu nationalism collided after the BJP and the Sangh Parivar joined the Ayodhya movement in the 1980s. In 1991, Avaidyanath switched to the BJP, but he kept a lot of power. Adityanath was elected to the Lower House of the Indian Parliament four years after being designated as Avaidyanath’s successor (the Lok Sabha).
Following his first electoral victory, Adityanath founded Hindu Yuva Vahini, a youth organization that became known for its activities in eastern Uttar Pradesh and played a key role in Adityanath’s meteoric rise.
There have been ongoing squabbles between Adityanath and the BJP leadership over election ticket distribution. The BJP, on the other hand, has not allowed the tensions to escalate because Adityanath has been a key campaigner for the party.
He made links between Nepali Maoists and Indian Leftist parties a key campaign issue in 2006, and he encouraged Madhesi leaders to oppose Maoism in Nepal. While en route to Azamgarh for an anti-terrorism rally in 2008, his convoy was reportedly attacked. One person was killed and at least six others were injured as a result of the attack.
Yogi Adityanath as a Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, Adityanath was a prominent campaigner for the BJP. On March 18, 2017, the state government named him Chief Minister, and he was sworn in the next day after the BJP won the assembly elections.
He kept around 36 ministries under his direct control after becoming the CM of UP, including Home, Housing, Town and Country Planning Department, Revenue, Food, and Civil Supplies, Food Security and Drug Administration, Economics and statistics, Mines and Minerals, Flood control, Stamp and registry, Prison, General administration, Secretariat administration, Vigilance, Personnel and appointment, Information, Institutional finance, Planning, Estate department, Urban land.
With the announcement of the legislative assembly results on March 10, 2022, the BJP-led NDA alliance secured 273 seats, giving incumbent Chief Minister Yogi his second term. Yogi and his party made history by becoming the first chief minister to return to power after serving a full 5-year term. The BJP is also the first party to return to power in a row after 37 years.
