Dr. Seuss, full name Theodor Seuss “Ted” Geisel was a man who is remembered by millions because of his exceptional writing work and illustrations in more than 60 books. He is famous because of his marvelous skills which he possessed and showcased through his work.

Dr. Seuss Birthday: Seuss was born on 2nd March 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts, U.S.

Dr. Seuss Family: Seuss was born to Henrietta (née Seuss) and Theodor Robert Geisel.

Seuss belonged to German descent. He and his sister experienced anti-German prejudice from other children following the outbreak of World War I in 1914. Despite all tragedies, he completed his graduation from Dartmouth College, then he did his post-graduation from Lincoln College, Oxford in English literature.

Dr. Seuss was a famous and well-renowned American children’s author, political cartoonist, illustrator, poet animator, screenwriter, and filmmaker. This multi-talented personality became familiar in the public through his books on children. Over 600 million copies were sold and were translated into more than 20 languages by the time of his death.

His famous work includes If I Ran the Zoo (1950), Horton Hears a Who! (1955), If I Ran the Circus (1956), The Cat in the Hat (1957), How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1957), and Green Eggs and Ham (1960). His first published children’s book was  And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street in 1937. He published over 60 books during his career, which have spawned numerous adaptations, including 11 television specials, five feature films, a Broadway musical, and four television series.

World War I and World War II had a huge impact on his life, so his writings were highly described on them. Based on the situation he drew political cartoons and illustrations at that time. His work was even published in  Dr. Seuss Goes to War, denounced Hitler and Mussolini and was highly critical of non-interventionists (“isolationists”), most notably Charles Lindbergh, who opposed the US entry into the war.

Geisel was a liberal democrat and a supporter of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and the New Deal. He was highly opposed to feminism. and he urged action against it both before and after the United States entered World War II.
